16 [lbo-talk] Forbes on Google Wallet - the League of Morons -- rank: 1000
Well, in the US, there is Peapod, where you select what you want in their website and then it is delivered to your home. http://www.peapod.com/ Looked into it a while ago, but didn't do a thorough price comparison. 19 [lbo-talk] The Generationally 1% -- rank: 1000
I have been reading in some discussions of the OWS movement, a statement going along the lines of "Those born of parents in the one percent are almost guaranteed to remain part of the 1%, whereas those in the 99% are almost guaranteed not to become part of the 1%." I was just wondering who has good data on generational perpetuity of wealth. Bryan

20 [lbo-talk] To Doug -- rank: 1000
What's sad is not that he posts these blurbs, but that he never adds anything to the discussion. Knowing Jonathan, I think he could add something to the debate...but it is just unconnected blurbs about their own publications. 21 [lbo-talk] Doug: lecture at OWS tonight at 6? -- rank: 1000
Sadly, at the Milwaukee Demo yesterday, I saw a few people with Ron Paul signs... I wanted to ask them what the hell they were thinking, but I know that trying logic on a libertarian is wasted energy... No pics of the Ron Paul signs, but I took these at the demo: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150314926666367.336465.563576366&type=3 Bryan Sent from my iPad On Oct 16, 2011, at 7:30, Joseph Catron <jncatron at gmail.com> wrote: > On Sun, Oct 16, 2011 at 7:59 AM, Michael P ...

25 [lbo-talk] Question on LBO #133 front-page chart -- rank: 1000
Hi Doug, Just had a question on interpreting the chart on front page: "worst in 80 years." Is this by U-6 Total unemployed? Second, 2011 is 0% and then the other years are percent change compared to 2011? Do I have this right? (And what is meant by ten-year change...because it shows change over smaller periods than ten-year?)... Sorry, these questions stem from my minimal economics background... Great issue as usual btw... 26 [lbo-talk] "Last-place Aversion": Evidence and Redistributive Implications -- rank: 1000
http://www.nber.org/papers/w17234 Why do low-income individuals often oppose redistribution? We hypothesize that an aversion to being in "last place" undercuts support for redistribution, with low-income individuals punishing those slightly below themselves to keep someone "beneath" them. In laboratory experiments, we find support for "last-place aversion" in the contexts of risk aversion and redistributive preferences. Participants choose gambles with the potential ...

27 [lbo-talk] Wisconsin recall results -- rank: 1000
Yah, and having much more background in the Palestine/Israel issue, there organizing "transnationally" has much more practical and integrated application. The "triangle" of organization is Palestinian/Israeli/internationals... both on the ground (doing joint demonstrations), coordinated activities (a day of demonstrations in Israel, Palestine and around the world), and for instance international BDS as a tool. I can understand why you call it a transnational struggle. But what does that mean beyond conceptualizing it as a local/transnational struggle. What does it mean that "folks [...] should organize transnationally" on a practical level? well, maybe nationally, but my main interest is for the local population in Wisconsin, and taking back the legislature and reversing even only the draconian aspects of the legislation would have a significant real life impact on Wisconsinites. 30 [lbo-talk] Wisconsin recall results -- rank: 1000
On the level of local and state legislators, I just don't get this reasoning....in a case when there wasn't a radical candidate that would go as far as you would like to choose from and the Dem was within the range of someone who while you might want them to go further, aren't antithetical to your positions on matters that will most definitely and practically impact education, healthcare, workers' rights, etc. Sent from my iPad On Aug 11, 2011, at 13:27, Shane Mage <shmage at pipeline.com> ...
