What it needs to be about is the corporation period. Corporations are only organized to promote the accummulation of wealth -- the one and only goal of business is to make money for the shareholders -- that excludes (omits) social need and social goals outside that corporation. So any inside jockying for a better position for one interest be it labor investors or capitalist investors or another is missing the systemic problem - money into more money does not equal social justice. I only have time for a few comments regarding Polly Toynbees article > Rights are for the living > The disability rights commission has made a big mistake in allying > itself with anti-abortion fanatics They did not ally themelves with anti-abortion fanatics! It is a cheap shot that she thinks so because they believe some sections of the abortion act are discriminatory. > Polly Toynbee > Friday August 24, 2001 > The Guardian > > An astonishing statement has just emerged ...

I meant to add one more thought to my last email with Kelley. It really is not enough just to say that the solution to eugenic abortion is to fight against prejudice. This presumes that the human environment is the product of ideas and attitudes. Stigmatization, etc., basis for prejudice is a false idealism. Prejudice does not offer a satisfactory explanation of the belief formation and fails to appreciate the materiality of social practices. The view of disability as an attitudinal structure ...

I am going to respond to the last graph because it is not rehashing the old Singer material -- what you insinuate here I say about Singer I don't but frankly I don't have the time to deal with this. Rob Disability activists in Australia have the same response to Singer as those of us in the US. I think you and several others are so stuck on Singer as some sort of cult hero of the left that you don't want to see the flaws. You really don't want to hear us. Actually it is you who is prone to group think. Sorry Rob. Marta Rob Schaap wrote: > > I think Marta is, like all of us, prone to group think at times.
