408 [lbo-talk] Vote Fraud? The Geeks Speak. (Dr. Bob Fitrakis, loon of the Columbus Free Press Ohio noted) -- rank: 1000
There was a second report besides the Voting Technology Project by another professor (sorry I did not write down his name) that left open the possibility of tampering, it was on MSNBC Keith Olberman (sp?) show a couple days ago. Now it seems the Voting Tech Project is getting all the press - perhaps to quell things down. 410 [lbo-talk] to Demand Ohio Recount -- rank: 1000
Kerry's people are "scrutinizing" Ohio. I don't have much faith that the Dems will be tough minded in their investigation or that we will learn the truth from Kerry. I believe they will try to validate the election process to make it appear as though the Republic remains intact with proper systems in good working order. Marta >these folks can demand a recount but the dems can't? and they can >demand the ohio secretary of state, who chaired the shrub campaign >in ohio, rec ...

411 [lbo-talk] W moving the fundamentalists into position -- rank: 1000
President Bush has announced his plan to select Dr. W. David Hager to head up the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee. The committee has not met for more than two years, during which time its charter lapsed. As a result, the Bush Administration is tasked with filling all eleven positions with new members. This position does not require Congressional approval. The FDA's Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee makes crucial decisions on matters re ...

413 [lbo-talk] Dominionist theocrats? -- rank: 1000
I'm not sure who wrote this, I have never heard of the "Dominionists". Chip, this is up your alley. m Subject: theocracy This morning, as I've tried to come to terms with yesterday and what must be the future of this country, I found this analysis on one of the blogs I read regularly. As over-the-top as it sounds, it also seems prescient to me. The question is: if it is, what is there to do? This is not about Republicans or Democrats. This is not about the war. This is not about the e ...

414 [lbo-talk] rant on -- rank: 1000
Perhaps it is the influence of the internet. We certainly have more opportunity to express rage and alienation, to commiserate with more people, and to spread information better now than in the 1980s. 415 [lbo-talk] rant on -- rank: 1000
You are right, I am from the south. That just means I know it all too well. I just spent two weeks in the red states for a reunion, people were solidly behind Bush - they didn't really have a reason (most were uninformed), it was just because he was a Repugnant and not a Dem. The only thing the Yankees were unfair about was excluding the west coast as their ally. Marta > >Hey Marta, you're a southerner originally, right? 418 [lbo-talk] election fraud becomes SOP? (was No Stolen Elections!) -- rank: 1000
I don't understand why there hasn't been a constitutional challenge to the no paper trail e voting process. States such as Florida have a law allowing a recount. But how can you conduct a recount when in the case of electronic voting there is no paper trail to count. It seems to me that the lawyers needed to be involved in getting injunctions to prevent the use of the Diebold machines before the election took place. It's not too late to do that before the next election cycle. Marta >I thi ...
