LBOers, This paper is not to be found at UCLA Management Library, or anywhere else it seems in this city. I can probably get it from Brookings but that will take time. 1204 unemployment and low wages -- rank: 1000
Here comes the superfluous mouth again. Prevailing economic theory holds that low wages are correlated with low unemployment; and high wages with high unemployment. I am making the case that unemployment depresses wages. (David Blanchflower and Andrew Oswald, The Wage Curve). Is there any other evidence or economists who I can cite to support the Blanchflower side?????? Mike Yates, you may be interested to know that Richard Burkhauser, the economist who you know, says this is pure bunk. You m ...

I've been very sick with a bad cold, been downing antihistamines and valerian root for several days. I think it has an effect on my mind. Not sleeping well has an effect. I certainly don't want to think that I am imposing on people. "Superfluous mouths" is a great phrase. 1210 letter to Pacifica -- rank: 1000
Hello all, Well I had to speak up about this. Not to mention that Amy Goodman referred to wheelchair users as "confined to a wheelchair" promoting stereotypical fears about disablement. To her credit, she later said she shouldn't have used the term. Why is it that these people are so uneducated and backwards on our issues? Marta Russell Letter to Pacifica Stations Amy Goodman on Pacifica Radio's Democracy Now announced the Kevorkian verdict, briefly discussed him and had a discussio ...

1215 Elia Kazan and ultra-purism -- rank: 1000
I just cannot understand Warren Beatty - who has had the respect of Hollywood lefties - supporting the Kazan award. He said that the Academy was only honoring the films of Kazan, not his life, so Beatty did not agree with the protesters, but that certainly rings hollow. Beatty knew that he never would have gotten Bulworth made if it had not been for some paybacks he was owed by Fox for making other films(??think it was Fox). Why doesn't he connect the INSTITUTION of the Academy with the eleme ...
