1111 The ADA and the 11th Amendment -- rank: 1000
Justin, Thanks for such a complete explanation of the 11th amendment concerns! Last year citizens with disabilities faced the possible loss of the "most integrated setting" provision of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act in Olmstead v. L.C & E.W. But we fought it and we won. Now we face losing ALL protection from discrimination against people with disabilities by the states. The ADA was already hit by the 8th Circuit Court (arkansas). It decided (Alsbrook decision) t ...

1114 Bradley's Health Care Proposal -- rank: 1000
Yep Chuck, I agree it is a giant mess. Nathan and you are right that there is profiteering off Medicaid and Medicare contracts but this is not unique to public health care. Many suppliers realize they can have an endless stream of profits by getting a few lucrative deals with the government or HMOs or private hospitals or doctors referrals. Some are providing services adequately, some are cutting corners to make more money and some are pure scams such as the recent one in LA with fake Medicai ...

1115 Bradley on Labor Law Reform -- rank: 1000
I recently met a writer (Ron Ridenour) from the Internationalist who says he met with Bradley and his wife some years ago in south America when he was covering events there. He stated unequivocally that Bradley's wife had clear connections with the right wing. I don't remember the names of her associates (had never heard of them before). Any body know anything about Ms Bradley?? marta Nathan Newman wrote: > Bradley speaking to the Iowa AFL-CIO: > > "Used to be that thirty percen ...

Well the Medicare population could be described as the non poor disabled - it is non means tested and many seniors have saved money over a life time of earnings. Let me ...

It doesn't eliminate cherry picking. The consumer union's analysis has been very clear that cherry picking hasn't been dealt with well at all. What will exist under Bradley's plan is what exists now -- a number of health plans to "choose" from. Each HMO, PPO, and the federal plans underwrite t ...

1120 West on Bradley's Gravitas -- rank: 1000
Well, if so, DSA is in the quagmire. Bradley plans to get rid of Medicaid and replace the public system with private vouchers, i.e., turn over health care most entirely to private insurance. That is to the right of anything Richard Nixon would have done and spells disaster for some populations - Physicians for National Health care Program has being trying to get the word out on this aspect of the "socialist" Bradley and I have too from the perspective of PWDs. I may have to vote agai ...
