1041 Nike ableism -- rank: 1000
This is the grossest and purest form of ableism I've seen in some time. Carol I hope you are reading messages. ************************** An advertisement in Backpacker Magazine (October, 2000). It is an ad for Nike ACG (All Conditions Gear) extreme sports trail running shoe: And I quote: "...Fortunately the Air Dri-Goat features a patented goat-like outer sole for increased traction so you can taunt mortal injury without actually experiencing it. Right about now you're probably asking your ...

SAN FRANCISCO BAY GUARDIAN Reality Bites Monday, November 13, 2000 http://www.sfbg.com/reality/04.html By Martin A. Lee Here's a whopper of a story you may have missed amid the cacophony of campaign ads and stump speeches in the run-up to the elections. During former defense secretary Richard Cheney's five-year tenure as chief executive of Halliburton, Inc., his oil services firm raked in big bucks from dubious commercial dealings with Iraq. Cheney left Halliburton with a $34 million retirement ...

1048 Quote Kvetcher Strikes Again! -- rank: 1000
Barry, Did you consider that some people may have difficulty reading smaller print or are that you may be Kkvetching by the white male nondisabled standard? Fact is the ADA calls for 14 point print for those who have difficulty reading small print. In my case I settled for 12 point charcoal typeface. I will try to delete most of the posts that I am responding to but don't expect me to change my type size. I believe that you have options on your end that you can exercise, don't you? Sorry it &q ...

1049 Nader cost himself federal funds (Re: election demographics -- rank: 1000
It doesn't prove your point at all. People were largely voting out of fear of a Bush win -- the Dems had vulnerable people (I know this is true of the disabled vote) convinced that the state was in play when it really was not. People who wanted to vote for Nader did not because they feared a Bush presidency would kill disability civil rights.
