6755 [lbo-talk] good news for unions? -- rank: 1000
The Washington branch of ISI, the consulting firm headed by Wall Street's favorite economist, Ed Hyman, thinks that the Dems are increasingly likely to get 60 Senate seats, which would be news for pharma stocks (drug price controls more likely), and would virtually assure passage of the Employee Free Choice Act (which would eliminate the need for secret ballots in union organizing drives) - bad news for Wal-Mart and FedEx. 6761 [lbo-talk] Bradley effect seems not to exist -- rank: 1000
<http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenumbers/> The Numbers A Run at the Latest Data from ABC's Poobah of Polling, Gary Langer Barack Obama s lead over John McCain has reignited debate about the alleged Bradley effect the notion that, in polls, white people lie about voting for a black candidate. It remains, at best, what I called it nine months ago: a theory in search of data. The Bradley effect and its variants (Wilder effect, Dinkins effect), attempt to explain why the level of support f ...
