Gallup's latest Bush approval, based on polling done Oct 6-8, is 37%. They helpfully put this in context. Approval rating of re-elected presidents in the second October of their second term Bush 37% Clinton 65% Reagan 63% Johnson 44% Eisenhower 57% Truman 40% The average of all in this list pre-Bush is 54%; the average for all presidents since FDR at all times is 56%. Bush's 37% is dismal.
