63 [lbo-talk] Alberta Darling Becomes Fifth Republican Senator to Face Recall in Wisconsin -- rank: 1000
Alberta Darling, you are recalled! So, today in Kletch Park a few blocks from my home, the Recall Alberta Darling committee held a press conference stating that they had around 30,000 signatures (20,000 were needed) calling for a recall of Wisconsin Republican State Senator, Alberta Darling. They now will submit the signatures to the state government in Madison. I couldn't go to the press conference, so I gave my parents my camera and here are some pictures (I set them to be available to everyon ...

64 [lbo-talk] Found Wisconsin votes don't add up -- rank: 1000
Doug, I really wish it was about political conviction, but from what I have seen, it is simply that politics is uninteresting to a lot of people and they can't be bothered. maybe if Rogers was running on the Packer Party ticket. 66 [lbo-talk] Found Wisconsin votes don't add up -- rank: 1000
Yah Michael, me too... And I still think there is enough history with her and fishiness to compel a publicly funded accurate recount, but I have a sinking feeling that the results will be similar. 67 [lbo-talk] Found Wisconsin votes don't add up -- rank: 1000
Yah, sadly I think it was a case of her complete incompetence. I definitely think she should be fired, but i think the evidence doesn't point to criminality in this case. Waukesha is rabidly Republican, a blot on the map between Milwaukee and Madison. Taking out Waukesha votes, Kloppenburg would win the elections hands down. But it doesn't surprise me that they had such a high turnout, they tend towards active conservative extremism. These issues are moving targets and it seemed a plausible argu ...

68 [lbo-talk] Benvenisti: The Inevitable Bi-national Regime (Was: Chomsky regards himself as a supporter of Israel) -- rank: 1000
Yah, here is the audio I recorded of a lecture that Benvenisti did in English a couple years ago at the Daila center next to the AIC office (sadly the Daila center is now a pizza place). http://alternativenews.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1030:news-from-within-podcast-the-annapolis-conference-in-the-shadow-of-the-one-state-reality&catid=114:nfw-podcast&Itemid=856 On 5/30/2010 7:39 PM, Ira Glazer wrote: > ary state of affairs. 69 [lbo-talk] Chomsky regards himself as a supporter of Israel -- rank: 1000
Regardless of what I would ideally wish to happen here, and the fact that Israel by continuing to expand its infrastructure and civilian population into the occupied Palestinian territories, making a form of de facto one state... control over the territory, exclusion of the population... one does have to face up to the likely reality of what would occur in a de jure one state scenario. The amount animosity and distrust between the populations being what it is, and would continue for a while to c ...

72 [lbo-talk] According to a McLaughlin Poll, A plurality of Jewish voters would consider someone else for President -- rank: 1000
First, does a McLaughlin Poll usually have veracity? If so, how does this jive with the Beinart article? "According to the 2008 exit polls, Barack Obama won 78% to 21% among Jewish voters. Now, in the second year of Obama s presidency, only 42% of voters would re-elect him, while the plurality (46%) would consider voting for someone else." 74 [lbo-talk] My article on my family tragedy and road culture in Israel that is supposed to go to Yideoth Ahronoth -- rank: 1000
Yideoth Ahronoth asked me at first to write a letter to my family, and I told them I will not write a sob story for their reader's pleasure, I said I am only interested in writing something that will have a potential to influence a change in driving culture in Israel..so this was the compromise. It is supposed to be translated to Hebrew and published in the weekend edition. I wonder how much they will keep. Maybe not the most appropriate thing for LBO-talk, but I felt like sending it around.. Br ...
