406 [lbo-talk] Queen Hussein: Palestinian gay and lesbian community -- rank: 1000
Queen Hussein Written by Liad Kantorowicz The Palestinian gay and lesbian community has yet to leave the closet, but it's on its way. Today it's possible to go to parties of gays from the Occupied Territories and see young residents of the West Bank perform drag. They have not told their mother about this, but one day they intend to conquer the entire Palestinian Authority. This article first appeared in the Hebrew edition of the Haaretz weekend magazine and was translated by the Alternative Inf ...

409 [lbo-talk] Antiwar demo yesterday evening in Tel Aviv -- rank: 1000
Last evening I went to the protest in Tel Aviv against the war. From what I could gauge, there were approximately 2000 demonstrators. As we walked along there was the occasional and carrying signs saying, in Hebrew, "Traitors Against Israel" and a couple screaming "Kill the Arabs," but the police pushed them away. The demo was sponsored by Women against the War: Coalition of Women for Peace, Achoti, ASWAT, Bat Shalom, Women in Black, Fora, Tandi, Women against violence, Altaf ...

410 [lbo-talk] "Protest? Not now" or "Why Peace Now is so friggin' pathetic" -- rank: 1000
This one came out a few days ago, but I see they translated it to English now: Protest? Not now By Lily Galili http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/744074.html Last Monday, Peace Now held a special meeting of its executive on the current war in Lebanon. Only infrequently do as many as 40 members come to this kind of meeting. On rare occasions, their views are not divided along the familiar moderate and radical lines, as happened this time. Various new themes came up during the meeting, aside from ...

412 [lbo-talk] We're all Hezbollah... -- rank: 1000
Thanks, that is interesting. Jonathan Cook does good reporting, but I haven't read this piece... Interesting, in that specific case I presumed they were trying to hit Natzrat Ilit (a Jewish village overlooking Nazareth), it was obvious they weren't targeting the Palestinian Nazareth, but if Jonathan says so in this case, there is probably something to it, especially because he lives in Nazareth. It is also interesting that, as Robert Fisk said, they tried to hit the Har Meron military tracking c ...

419 [lbo-talk] We're all Hezbollah... -- rank: 1000
When the Lebanese say it, I agree, they may have the reason, especially when that is how Israel is trying to frame it and that is how they are treating the entire population of Lebanon, but when the international activists do it, I am not so sure it is. To be honest, the Hezbollah attack led to the obfuscation of what was an increasingly domestically criticized campaign in Gaza into one of the strongest popular backed campaigns in Israeli history. The attack on Gaza continues at pace and all eye ...
